PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stable floating characteristics even if a slider is smaller than a femtoslider. SOLUTION: Three floating attitude control pad surfaces 103 to 105, a U-shaped step surface 102, a first step reference surface 101a, and a recessed surface 110 are formed in an air bearing surface 150 in order nearest to a magnetic disk surface. The first step reference surface 101a is communicated with a flow-in edge 100a. The U-shaped step surface 102 includes a first part formed thin and long in a camber direction in a flow-out edge 100b so as to open toward the flow-in edge 100a, and a second part thin and long in a crown direction to communicate with both ends of the first part. The two floating attitude control pad surfaces 103 and 104 are disposed separately in the camber direction. The floating attitude control pad surface 105 is in the first part of the U-shaped step surface 102. The recessed surface 110 is between the center of the air bearing surface 150 and the U-shaped step surface 102 with respect to the crown direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
