PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector for a backlight compatible in both sure holding in setting a fluorescent light as the backlight, and its easy release. SOLUTION: This is the connector 20 equipped with an actuator 23 which is axially supported by a connector housing 24 free of opening and closing, and which allows the fluorescent light 30 to be set in the connector housing 24 when opened, and holds the fluorescent light 30 when closed, a lock mechanism 70 in which the actuator 23 is retained to be closed by a prescribed retaining force since an engaged part 23h installed at the actuator 23 is engaged with an engaging part (locking claw 22t) installed at the connector housing 24 when the actuator 23 is closed, a notch part 23c which is formed at the tip part of the actuator 23 in order to apply a force in an opening direction larger than the retaining force of the lock mechanism, and a support base 21c which is positioned in the vicinity of the notch part 23c of the closed actuator 23 and installed at the connector housing 24.
