<p>A video display unit comprises a moving image region discrimination section (11) for discriminating between a still image region and a moving image region of input video, a noise detection section (12) for detecting the amount of noise of block-noise caused by MPEG compression, an edge enhancement section (13) for performing edge enhancement on the input video, and a video display section (14) for displaying the input video subjected to the edge enhancement. The edge enhancement section (13) makes the amount of edge enhancement in a region with a large amount of noise smaller than that in a region with a small amount of noise according to the result of the detection by the noise detection section (12), and makes the amount of edge enhancement in the moving image region smaller than that in the still image region according to the result of the discrimination by the moving image region discrimination section (11).</p> |
