The device i.e. ion mobility spectrometer (1), has a sample gas line (4) guided from a sample gas inlet (2) to a sample gas discharge opening (3). A multi-path valve (10) is arranged in the line, and a supply line (14) guided into an analysis unit (16) is attached to the valve. Sample gas from the gas line is fed into the supply line during a valve positioning by a diffusion bridge (7), which is permeable to the gas, where the positioning separates the supply line from the gas line. The supply line is attached to an internal measuring circle line. An independent claim is also included for a method for feeding sample gas into a gas analysis device.
