PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set clusters of edit elements on the basis of setting of overlapping elements.

SOLUTION: Clusters of edit elements are set so that overlapping elements having the same start time belong to the same cluster of edit elements. The end time of an overlapping element A and the start time of an overlapping element B having a start time later than that of the overlapping element A are compared with each other, and the overlapping element B is regarded to be included in the cluster of edit elements including the overlapping element A in the case that the start time of the overlapping element B is before the end time of the overlapping element A, and the overlapping element B is regarded to be not included in the cluster of edit elements including the overlapping element A in the case that the start time of the overlapping element B is after the end time of the overlapping element A. This invention is applicable to an image processor.
