PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability in selecting a main face to be used as a focus area from among a plurality of faces subjected to face detection. SOLUTION: A face selection ranking determining unit 77 determines face selection ranking for a plurality of faces detected by a face detecting unit 74. A main face selecting unit 80 selects an initial face of the top face selection ranking as a main face. When a release button is continuously pressed by half, a main face change determining unit 81 transmits a face change instruction to the main face selecting unit 80.
