<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the size of, for example, block data after compression, and to facilitate random access to the data, after compression. <P>SOLUTION: The data compressor is provided with a block-dividing part which divides the data into a plurality of blocks; a bit number calculation part which calculates the number of bits which should be assigned for the compression of the respective pieces of element data from the maximum value and the minimum value among the respective pieces of element data at the same position in the plurality of blocks; and a data compression part which compresses the respective pieces of element data, corresponding to the number of bits. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
