摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron-based sintered material which has an electrodeposition coating film having superior adhesiveness and no defect therein formed on the surface of the iron-based sintered material having pores therein, and is superior in corrosion resistance; a manufacturing method therefor; particularly a fixing case for a cylinder lock device composed of iron-based sintered parts superior in corrosion resistance; and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The iron-based sintered material is manufactured by the steps of: forming an iron oxide layer on the surface of the iron-based sintered material by steam treatment to seal the coarse pores in the sintered material; and covering the surface having the iron oxide layer formed thereon with the electrodeposition coating film. A cationic electrodeposition coating method is preferably used for the electrodeposition coating. An epoxy-based resin paint is preferably used for the cationic paint, particularly when high corrosion resistance is required, and an acrylic resin paint is preferably used, when weatherability is required.
