PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device for a vehicle capable of restraining a lock release link from being removed from a shift lever device body. SOLUTION: The shift lever device 10 for the vehicle has a shift lever device body 20; a housing upper 30; a lock release button 40 movably mounted to the housing upper 30; and the lock release link 50 movably mounted to the shift lever device body 20 and transmitting motion of the lock release button 40 to a shift lock mechanism 60. The lock release link 50 is provided with a first extension part 51 extending in a vertical direction at a position different from a position below the lock release button 40; and a second extension part 52 extending from the first extension part 51 to the position below the lock release button 40. When the housing upper 30 is not mounted to the shift lever device body 20, an input prevention rib 70 for suppressing external force from being applied to the second extension part 52 is provided on the shift lever device body 20.
