PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein a transfer voltage cannot be properly controlled in a downstream image forming part, when an intermediate transfer body is charged by impressing a test voltage in an upstream image forming part, in an image forming apparatus provided with the plurality of image forming parts along the intermediate transfer body, and for impressing the test voltage to a transfer member to control a transfer voltage. SOLUTION: The transfer voltage is controlled at timing other than the timing when an area receiving the test voltage in the upstream image forming part passes the downstream image forming part.
