PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a potassium fluoride dispersion having high fluorinating capacity. SOLUTION: An alkali metal fluoride dispersion is produced by carrying out a step A, subsequently carrying out steps B to D at least once, and subsequently carrying out a step E. The step A includes extracting a liquid phase from an alkali metal fluoride dispersion comprising an alkali metal fluoride and an alcoholic solvent such as methanol, and mixing the liquid phase with an aprotic organic solvent having a specified boiling point. The step B includes concentrating the mixture produced in the step A or D, thereby yielding a concentrated fraction and a concentration residue. The step C includes mixing a residue of the alkali metal fluoride dispersion containing the alkali metal fluoride and alcoholic solvent produced by extracting the liquid phase in the step A or a residue of the mixture produced by extracting the liquid phase in the step D and a concentrated fraction obtained by the step B. The step D includes extracting the liquid phase from the mixture obtained by the step C, and mixing the liquid phase and the concentrated residue obtained by the step B; and the step E includes removing the alcoholic solvent from the mixture obtained by the step D, thereby yielding the desired alkali metal fluoride dispersion.
