PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a configuration capable suppressing the number of output signal lines, manufacturing costs and enlargement in an optical pickup equipped with a plurality of light receiving elements for receiving a reflected light from an optical recording medium. SOLUTION: A first printed circuit board 24 electrically connected to an external controller substrate 26, a second printed circuit board 22 having a first light receiving element 10 mounted thereon and electrically connected directly to the first printed circuit board 24, and a third printed circuit board 23 having a second light receiving element 18 mounted thereon and electrically connected to the first printed circuit board 24 via the second printed circuit board 22 are attached to the base 21 of the optical pickup. In the second printed circuit board 22, signal lines from the light receiving elements 10 and 18 are made common. A switching circuit is provided to selectively switch permission/inhibition of signal outputting for the light receiving elements 10 and 18. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
