PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which a gel-like massive substance containing a guest molecule and its host molecule of a clathrate compound as components can be obtained and which is suitable for collecting a gas in the gel-like massive substance. SOLUTION: This method for producing the gel-like massive substance containing the guest molecule and its host molecule of the clathrate compound is characterized by having a process for cooling a solution containing the guest molecule of the clathrate compound as a solute and the host molecule as a solvent after or during the release of the solution in the outer environment to obtain the gel-like massive substance.
