<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust system for a diesel engine by which combustible gas in an exhaust passage can be burned reliably. <P>SOLUTION: In the exhaust system for a diesel engine, liquid fuel 6 is supplied from a liquid-fuel supply source 5 to a gas generator 3 wherein the liquid fuel 6 is converted to combustible gas 7. An outlet 9 of the combustible gas of the gas generator 3 is allowed to communicate with an exhaust passage 1 upstream of a diesel particulate filter 2. The combustible gas 7 flowing out of the combustible-gas outlet 9 is burned with oxygen in the exhaust gas 10, and exhaust particulate-matters accumulated on the filter 2 are burned by the exhaust gas 10 heated by the heat of combustion. The exhaust system for a diesel engine is provided with a gas generator 3 including a catalyst chamber 51. A catalyst 4 is held in the catalyst chamber 51 wherein catalytic combustion heat is evolved. The catalyst chamber 51 is arranged along the peripheral wall 1a in the exhaust passage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
