PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the mounting performance of a mounting member provided on a cylinder, and to improve the support rigidity of the cylinder in a both-rod-type hydraulic shock absorber. SOLUTION: In the both-rod-type hydraulic shock absorber 10, the mounting member 20 to one of vehicle body side and axle side provided at the other end side of the cylinder 11 comprises a hollow mounting shaft 21 fixed coaxially at the other end of the cylinder 11, a pillow ball 25 fixed on the outside circumference of the hollow mounting shaft 21, and a mounting case 27 fixed on the outside circumference of the pillow ball 25 and attached to one of the vehicle body side and axle side. The end of a sub-rod 14 protruding from the cylinder 11 is configured to be capable of advancing to and retreating from the hollow part 21C of the hollow mounting shaft 21.
