PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove the complicated steps to determine an optimum position of a pulse wave sensor. SOLUTION: A sensor unit 1 is installed on one's wrist. A biological image information including the wrist is obtained with a camera 1B within the sensor unit 1 and the characteristics of the wrist surface are recognized from the image information. The distance of movement of the sensor is calculated from a relationship between wrist characteristic points of the recognized and the optimum sensor position given in advance. A sensor part 1A within the unit is moved by a motor 1C or the like in accordance with the calculated movement distance information.
