PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar code reading system capable of reducing a failure of reading when reading a bar code attached to a transferred article. SOLUTION: This bar code reading system 10 reads the bar code 1 attached to the article 5 transported on a roller conveyer on its front surface in a progressing direction. As a bar code reader 11 is provided at the side edge of the roller conveyer, and the roller conveyer 21 has a part from a position where the transported article approaches a reading area of the bar code reader 11 to the whole reading area that is composed of a tapered roller 21t, a loading angle of a transported article 5 with respect to the progressing direction of the roller conveyer is changed within the reading area of the bar code reader.
