PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and an image forming method of line recording type capable of conveying a recording medium in a relatively simple constitution, consistently conveying the recording medium when the recording is performed by a recording means, and obtaining the high accuracy of the recording position. SOLUTION: An endless belt 15 is wound around a large diameter drum 13 and a small diameter roller 14. Recording heads 19Y, 19M, 19C, 19K of the line recording system for printing a recording paper P to be conveyed on the belt 15 are arranged opposite to a winding area of the belt 15 out of an outer circumferential surface of the drum 13. During the printing, the drum 13 is rotated at a predetermined speed, and while the recording paper P is conveyed at the predetermined speed, ink droplet is discharged on the winding part of the recording paper P around the drum 13 to perform the printing.
