PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shift an elevator to the earthquake control operation with an inexpensive and simple constitution by using a simultaneous multi-address communication delivering service of an emergency earthquake flash report by a cellular phone company, and to easily check the reception state of the emergency earthquake flash report as necessary. SOLUTION: In an earthquake control system for shifting an elevator to the earthquake control operation when a communication terminal 8 receives an emergency earthquake flash report from a cellular phone company 2, a checking request is periodically transmitted to the communication terminal 8 from an external monitoring center 10, and its reception record is updated at every reception. The reception state of the communication terminal 8 is determined based on the updated state of the reception record. When any abnormality of the reception state is detected, a report is transmitted from the elevator to the monitoring center 10 by a communication means not using the communication terminal 8.
