DISPLAY DEVICE, DIRECTIVITY CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of improving the realistic sensation and solid feeling of video by controlling directivity of light based on input video signals, and to provide a directivity control method, and a program.

SOLUTION: The display device includes: a video display part for displaying videos on a display screen based on the input video signals by having a plurality of pixels arranged in the form of a matrix; a directivity regulation part for determining directivity of light emitted from the corresponding pixels by the directivity control elements in each directivity control element by having at least one or more directivity control elements regulated by the directivity in response to applied voltage signals; a directivity detection part for detecting division regions having high brightness based on the input video signals by dividing the display screen into a plurality of respective corresponding division regions of the directivity control elements; and a directivity control part for applying the voltage signals on the directivity control elements corresponding to detected division regions based on the detected result of the directivity detection part.
