PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular AC generator which prevents increase of a cost for holding a permanent magnet disposed between magnet nails of a rotor, and secures the strength of a cooling fan when the generator has the cooling fan. SOLUTION: The vehicular AC generator has the rotor 1 including: a pair of pole cores 22 and 24 having a plurality of nails 18 and 20 respectively; and a housing portion 28 housing the permanent magnet disposed in the direction of preventing leak magnet flux between the nails 18 and 20. The AC generator is provided with holding portions 30 and 32 which are fixed to the pole cores 22 and 24 respectively and have projections 31 and 33 restraining the permanent magnet (housing portion 28) position along the direction of the rotating shaft of the rotor 1.
