The system has a heat exchanger (3) that is arranged between a water evaporation cooler (1) and a dust separation filter (2) and provided for condensation of a water vapor contained in an exhaust gas. A recirculation unit is provided for recirculation of the condensed water in the cooler, and has a water tank (8), where the water tank includes a sump and a removal opening for sludge deposited in the sump. A bypass line (10) is branched from an exhaust gas line connected to the cooler and discharged into an exhaust pipe (9). An independent claim is also included for a method for conditioning exhaust gas.
