An attachment 10 for removably attaching a needle to a syringe (100, figure 5), or other parenteral device, comprises a housing 12, 22 that contains a hollow needle 30 supported by a needle carrier 50 (figure 3). The carrier slides between a retracted position, in which the needle is received within the housing, and an extended position in which the needle projects from the housing ready for use. In the extended position a channel 42 in the carrier completes a flow path from the syringe into the needle via the aperture 38 at the top end of the needle. A recess 12 in the attachment housing engages with the fluid outlet on the syringe and the connection is secured by a deformable collar 70. The body of the syringe rests against an elongate limb 22 of the housing. |
