A juice extractor is provided for extracting juice from fruit or vegetables (100). The juice extractor comprises a cavity (38) for receiving fruit or vegetables (100) and in which the fruit or vegetables (100) is compressed by the application of a compressive force. The cavity (38) has an outlet (69) through which juice is able to pass upon the application of the compressive force, and the outlet (69) is positioned at the top of the cavity (38) 50 that the extracted juice is forced to flow upwardly out of the cavity (38). A method of extracting juice from fruit or vegetables (100) is also provided. The method comprises the steps of: <SL> <LI>(a) introducing fruit or vegetables (100) to a cavity (38); <LI>(b) applying a compressive force to the fruit or vegetables (100) in the cavity (38); <LI>(c) causing juice to he extracted from the fruit or vegetables (100) in an upward direction. </SL> The juice extractor (10) and method of the invention result in good juice extraction whilst reducing the size of the juice extractor, particularly the height thereof. This has benefits for domestic users of juice extractors. |
