519,324. Batteries. PARKINGTON, J. R. Sept. 20, 1938, No. 27388. [Class 53] Relates to secondary cells of the kind in which plate-like electrodes are alternately arranged radially with respect to a common centre, and consists in the provision of baffles between the electrodes to balance their action. In Fig. 1, one electrode is a whole plate 1 extending diagonally across a casing 4, the other electrode comprises two half plates 2a, 2b along the other diagonal, and the electrodes are separated in the centre by angular insulating baffle strips 3, 3 and supported at their grooved outer edges by rubber tubes 5. The whole plate 1 may be replaced by three spaced apart parallel plates, the centre one being of opposite polarity. Similarly, the plates 2a, 2b may be replaced by triple plates. In another arrangement there is a central insulating member, and all the plates are like the plates 2a, 2b. |
