Fabrication of aluminium foams by the impregnation of polyurethane foam with a slurry comprising aluminium and salt

Fabrication of 3D open cell metal foams with the method of impregnation of polymeric foams with slurries containing metal powders and one or more salts. The process includes drying at ambient temperature of the template foam being impregnated with the slurry, heat treatment to produce evaporation of the template foam followed by final sintering at the appropriate temperature and in an inert atmosphere in order to produce structures with improved properties.
