A device is provided for facilitating the action of a closure on a vehicle. The closure may be the tailgate of the vehicle, and the device is required so that when the tailgate is closed a build up of air pressure within the vehicle is released so that the tailgate does not bounce back and fail to latch. The device comprises a flap 21 that is pivotable between an open position in which air can exit the vehicle and a closed position; means 22 for retaining the flap in the closed position; and a circuit for selectively de-activating the retaining means. The flap may be the glass of the tailgate, or it could be a separate flap, such as a drafter, on the body of the vehicle. The flap may be retained in a closed position by a mechanical latch, or by a series of permanent and electromagnets. |
