A plasma display apparatus is provided to form the floating state of an address electrode for a sustain period by arranging a ground separation control unit between a ground voltage source connected to a scan board and sustain board, and a ground voltage source connected to a data board. A scan electrode(202) and a sustain electrode(203) are arranged on a front substrate(201). An address electrode(213) which intersects with the scan electrode and sustain electrode is arranged on a rear substrate(211). An upper dielectric layer(204) is arranged on an upper part of the front substrate to limit the discharge current of the scan electrode and sustain electrode. A protective layer(205) is arranged on an upper part of the upper dielectric layer. A lower dielectric layer(215) is arranged on the rear substrate. A partition(212) is arranged on an upper part of the lower dielectric layer.
