An image sensor and a method of manufacture thereof are provided to reduce the unit area of the array of pixel by setting color filters by colors at the same ratio in one pixel. The image sensor comprises the photodiode area, and the circuit region and the color filter layer(200). The photodiode and circuit region are formed in the top of the substrate. The color filter layer is formed on the photodiode. The color filter layer comprises the first color filter(210), the second color filter(220) and the third color filter(230) according to the color. The first color filter, the second color filter and the third color filter have the same rate about the unit pixel.
