<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tea-like or coffee-like processed sugarcane produced by roasting and crushing sugarcane and a method for producing the processed sugarcane, and enabling easy processing such as mechanical treatment and roasting in the production of the tea-like or coffee-like processed sugarcane using a sugarcane containing the sugarcane juice. <P>SOLUTION: Sugarcane is cut into small pieces, stirred together with water to obtain fine pieces, boiled to evaporate the water and roasted. Since the sugarcane is stirred together with water, the cane is easily and surely cut to fine pieces. The fine pieces are present in a state mixed with water and, accordingly, the fibers are dispersed in water to prevent the adhesion of fibers with sugar. The roasting can be carried out without causing adhesion by roasting the sugarcane after evaporating the water by boiling to form fine pieces containing dispersed sugarcane fibers.
