<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of preventing an occurrence of moires which are interference patterns of halftone patterns of an original with halftone patterns generated in a halftone processing in an image processing, and capable of obtaining an optimum copy output, to provide an image forming apparatus, to provide an image processing method, to provide a program, and to provide a recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: A difference detection section 103 calculates a difference value Dif<SB>_</SB>F(u, v) of a frequency component from a spatial frequency component of image data before halftone processing and a spatial frequency component of image data after halftone processing. A moire determining section 104 determines whether any moires occur based on the difference value Dif<SB>_</SB>F(u, v) of the frequency component. When it is determined that the moires occur, a filter coefficient calculation section 105 calculates a filter coefficient for suppressing the occurrence of the moires based on the difference value Dif<SB>_</SB>F(u, v) of the frequency component.
