<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having mechanical durability even for repeated use of a long period and for performing printing of high printing resolution. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus which includes at least a first exposure means for exposing the surface of an image carrier and a second exposure means for making an exposure spot size lager than the first exposure means and exposing the surface of the image carrier, wherein first wavelength of the first exposure means is shorter than second wavelength of the second exposure means, the image carrier is a laminated photosensitive layer for laminating a charge generation layer containing at least a charge generation substance and a charge transport layer containing a charge transport substance in this order on a conductive support.
