PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejection head that prints an image of a high image quality. SOLUTION: The liquid ejection head includes: a liquid chamber 4 to be filled with ink; an ejection port 1 for ejecting an ink drop from the liquid chamber; a piezoelectric element 7, as a displacement generating means, for applying to ink kinetic energy for ejecting an ink drop; and a vibrating plate 5 composing a part of the liquid chamber 4, connected to the piezoelectric element 7, and used for transmitting displacement generated by the piezoelectric element 7, to the ink in the liquid chamber 4, and the liquid ejection head applies kinetic energy to ink by use of the piezoelectric element 7, thereby causing the ink to be ejected and to fly from the ejection port 1. In this liquid ejection head, at least two or more piezoelectric elements 7 are provided, the vibrating plate 5 is sectioned for each connected piezoelectric elements 7 and includes vibrating portions 5a and 5b able to be displaced independently of connected piezoelectric elements. In addition, at least one of the piezoelectric elements 7 is used as a pressure detecting means for detecting ink pressure in the liquid chamber 4 besides the displacement generating means.
