An awaking degree judgment device calculates a heart beat interval from a heart beat signal of an examinee and carries out a frequency analysis for the calculated heart beat interval to calculate a spectrum density for every frequency. Further, the awaking degree judgment device extracts at every predetermined timing a combination among the maximum point density that is a spectrum density at the maximum point out of the calculated spectrum densities, the maximum point frequency that is the frequency corresponding to the maximum point density, and a large or small differential relationship indicative of a difference between the spectrum density corresponding to a frequency existing before or after the maximum point frequency. After that, the awaking degree judgment device compares the maximum point frequency, the maximum point density, and the small or large differential relationship that are contained in the extracted combination with the maximum point frequency, the maximum point density, and the small or large differential relationship that are contained in the combination extracted before the timing of the former combination set forth above, respectively. The awaking degree judgment device judges the degree of awaking in accordance with the judgment standard determined from a result of the comparison. |
