[Class 31 (ii)] A machine for selectively slotting the opposite edges of a card comprises a table with guides for the card, a series of punches operated by quadrants selectively brought into engagement with the punch stems by keys, and a handle for operating the selected punches. The punches 16 slide in guides 7 on the opposite sides of the table 8, and are furnished with recesses 19 adapted to be engaged by projections 21 on quadrants 14 pivoted at 13 and rocked by means of keys through links 25. The quadrants are collectively depressed to operate the punch stems by means of a handle mounted on a shaft 10 carrying arms 12 on which the shaft 13 is mounted. The keys are brought back to initial position by means of a spring-influenced bar 29 operated by a key 26. Each quadrant operates either one or other of a pair of punches whereby each slot on the edge of the card is opposite an unslotted part. The distance across the table may vary to take different sizes of card, the quadrants each being then made of two adjustable parts. |
