<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shoe having excellent lubricating properties even when a swash plate type compressor is activated. <P>SOLUTION: A shoe 5 is provided with: a spherical surface section 5A sliding on a sliding surface 4a which is a hemispherical recess in a piston 4; an end surface section 5B sliding on a swash plate 3; and a circular cylindrical section 5C formed between the spherical surface section 5A and the end surface section 5B. A large number of linear oil grooves 5F is formed in the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical section 5C. When the swash plate type compressor 1 is in a non-operating state, a lubricating oil separated from a refrigerant is retained within the respective oil grooves 5F in the cylindrical section 5C of the shoe 5. When the swash plate type compressor 1 is activated, the lubricating oil within the oil grooves 5F is supplied to the spherical surface section 5A and the end surface section 5B which are sliding portions.
