PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel ink composition for a ball point pen having both merits of a water-based ball point pen ink and merits of an oil-based ball point pen ink. SOLUTION: The ink composition for the water-based ball point pen comprises an aqueous phase composed of a pigment dispersion and an oily phase comprising an oily solution comprising an organic solution with a dye dissolved therein, contained therein in a state of an oil-in-water type emulsion.
