PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile terminal device which prevents incorrect recognition of its own position in the case when it detects by using assist position measurement. SOLUTION: The mobile terminal device 20 starts position detection processing in response to an inquiry from a tracking center 100 (S402 and S404) and requests a network assist for detecting the own position from a communication network 30 (S406). Receiving assist information from the communication network 30 (S408), the device receives a GPS signal, based on the assist information (S410), and transmits the received GPS signal to the communication network (S412). Receiving position coordinates computed on the basis of the GPS signal, as a measured position, from a positioning server of the communication network 30 (S414), the mobile terminal device 20 compares position coordinates of a base station obtained by S400 with the measured position obtained from the positioning server (S416) and informs the tracking center 100 of an adequate position as its own position (S418 and S420).
