PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an organic EL element, having an equivalent performance with an element the whole layers of which are laminated in a spin coat method, and sharply reducing a material cost, and also to provide an organic EL element. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of an organic EL element having an organic functional layer composed of a plurality of organic layers including, between a first electrode and a second electrode, an organic light emitting layer made of an organic EL material, includes processes of: (Step S10) forming the first electrode on a substrate; and (Steps S20-S40) forming the organic functional layer on the first electrode. In the process for forming the organic functional layer, a liquid forming material of the organic light emitting layer is arranged in a given position by a spin coat method and is solidified to form the organic light emitting layer, and then, at least one layer of a liquid forming material out of the plurality of the organic layers except the organic light emitting layer is arranged in a given position by a droplet discharge method and is solidified to form at least one layer out of the plurality of organic layers except the organic light emitting layer.
