<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid battery having a remarkably improved cycle life, suppressing reduction of an electrolyte, and suppressing a thinning phenomenon of a negative electrode lug. <P>SOLUTION: In this lead-acid battery in which positive and negative electrode lattices are made of a Pb-Ca-Sn based alloy practically containing no Sb, and positive and negative electrode connecting members are made of a lead alloy containing Sb of 5,000 mass ppm or less (practically including the case of 0), one or more of elements selected from Ni, Cu, Mo, Ag, and Te having a hydrogen overvoltage lower than that of Pb is added to a negative electrode active material or the electrolyte.
