[Class 58] A pulverulent substance such as meal for animal or human consumption is moistened by agitating violently the material throughout the length of a chamber to produce a cloud of part:cles and applying throughout the length of the chamber a finely atomised spray or mist of liquid to the cloud. As shown, meal is fed from a mixer through a spout 2 having an adjustable slide 15 into a closed chamber 1 provided with. a rapidly rotating helical blade 5 and' blades 8 of a smaller pitch mounted on a shaft 4. Moisture is introduced from nozzles 9 supplied with water and compressed air from a tank 14 and a reservoir 11. The moistened material passes through a discharge conduit 3. |
