PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically inserting a metallic plate into another component after positioning, in which the metallic plate is partially restored after bending processing thereof in a predetermined shape because of its elasticity, and then the shapes of the metallic plates are varied. SOLUTION: The metallic plate 2 bent in a predetermined shape is inserted into a groove of an molded article, through the following steps. (1) The metallic plate 2 is chucked by catching a pair of chuck claws 3 getting closer to the metallic plate from both sides thereof, and the chucking is performed at a plurality of portions necessary for maintaining the predetermined shape. (2) In the metallic plate 2 held, one of sides sandwiching the metallic plate is positioned and fixed at a position corresponding to the groove of the molded article, and the other side is caught and chucked by a pair of two sorts of chuck claws 4, 4' getting closer to one side, and the chucking is performed in a plurality of portions necessary for maintaining the predetermined shape. (3) After the chucking, the chucking in the step (1) is released.
