PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a display device for vehicles capable of shortening the time required for the processing of origin detection. SOLUTION: In the display device for vehicles, a second display (second display member) 2 arranged in front of a first display (first display member) 1 is moved through a moving mechanism 4 and guide rails (guide members) 3c, 3d, 3e under control of a control means 100. The display device for vehicles has a detection means D for detecting the position of an origin of the second display. The control means 100 reciprocatingly moves the second display 2 by a first distance on the basis of prescribed input signals (the turing-on of an actuation switch). In the case that the position of the origin is detected during the reciprocating movements, the processing of origin detection is terminated.
