PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knit not only maintaining the practicable burst strength but also having excellent water absorption and quick-drying properties, and also having antimicrobial deodorant properties and deodorizing properties; and to provide a method for producing the knit. SOLUTION: The knit is obtained by using (1) a cotton spun yarn having≥3.0 and≤4.0 of a twist coefficient k, and≥80 and≤250 of the number of constituent fibers, or (2) a cotton spun yarn having a multilayered structure, and regulated so that the twist angle of a fiber bundle constituting the outer layer part may be larger than that of the fiber bundle constituting the inner layer part. The knit has 110-180 of barium activity value, and 0.2-0.8 %owf of the amount of bound formaldehyde, and includes a metal composition containing iron, aluminum and potassium, having a catalytic function and being attached thereto as an antimicrobial deodorant agent.
