PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To meet a demand from either of a user who gives priority to image quality and a user who gives priority to economical efficiency. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is configured to set, as the deterioration degree of an image forming member, a first threshold representing an image quality guarantee limit, a second threshold representing a service life and a third threshold specified between the first threshold and the second threshold, and also, to selectively set an image quality priority mode and an economical efficiency priority mode. The image forming apparatus is configured to, in the state where the image quality priority mode is selectively set, notify the user that the image forming member should be replaced as the deterioration degree of the image forming member reaches the first threshold, on the other hand, in the state where the economical efficiency priority mode is selectively set, notify the user that the image forming member should be replaced as the deterioration degree of the image forming member reaches the third threshold.
