PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permanently guarantee expansion operability, without deteriorating lubricating oil stored in an oil reservoir recess by mixing-in of foreign matter. SOLUTION: This pneumatic shock absorber has the oil reservoir recess 5a inside a head end part in a cylinder body 1 for storing gas being a working fluid, and is formed so that a rod body 2 projectably-retreatably inserted into the cylinder body 1 makes the distal end side present in the cylinder body 1 by penetrating through the oil reservoir recess 5a. While forming the oil reservoir recess 5a in an oil reservoir case 5 arranged inside the head end part in the cylinder body 1, this oil reservoir case 5 has a checking means for checking mixing-in of dust in the lubricating oil stored in the oil reservoir recess 5a, and this checking means (52) has a taking-in material.
