PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article, in which an absorbent material is suppressed from unevenly distributing within cells, maintaining the advantage of an absorber in which the absorbent material is movably enclosed in a number of cells. SOLUTION: In the absorbent article including a first sheet 57, a second sheet 58 in which a number of pleats extending in a predetermined direction are parallelly arranged, and the absorbent material 59 disposed between the first and second sheets 57, 58, a joint part 56b is formed by bonding the first sheet 57 and the bottom of each pleat 58F of the second sheet on the first sheet 57 side, a tunnel-like cell 56C is formed without bonding the first sheet 57 and the second sheet 58 between the joint parts 56b, the granular absorbent material 59 containing at least high absorptive polymer particles is enclosed to be movable with an enough clearance in each cell 56C, and further a part of the first sheet 57 that is exposed to the inner surface of the cell 56C is provided with an adhesive layer 56t.
