PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reinforcing a beam, which enables the proper reinforcement of the beam, enables low-cost construction, facilitates a load-reducing design on a building, and is excellent in practicality. SOLUTION: The method for reinforcing the beam 1 of the existing building is as follows: fixing members 2 are provided in a fixed state in positions to right and left ends of the beam 1, respectively; a push-up member 4, which is provided via the right and left fixing members 2 and a connecting member 3, which supports the undersurface of the beam 1, and which has a jack member 6 and a jack retainer member 5, is mounted between the fixing members 2 at a position near the central portion of the beam 1; a movable end 7 of the jack member 6 is brought into motion and then stopped in a state in which a predetermined push-up force acts on the beam 1; a push-up body 8, which is provided on the push-up member 4 and protruded for contacting the undersurface of the beam 1 and pushing the surface up, is brought to be protruded until the movable end 7 and the beam 1 are separated from each other, so that the beam 1 can be supported by the push-up body 8; and subsequently, the jack member 6 is removed.
