PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber-reinforced composite material, for a friction material support of a frictional engagement device, which reveals excellent lightweight, heat resistance, impact resistance, etc. SOLUTION: This fiber-reinforced composite material is made of a sheet base material including a fiber sheet in which a fiber material is orientated at random inside a sheet surface and a binder component. In addition, the fiber-reinforced composite material is characteristic in that it can satisfy the following items (a) to (b). (a) The fiber material is a wet nonwoven fabric including aromatic polyamide fibers and carbon fibers, and (b) the bending strength, in an arbitrary direction, of the fiber-reinforced composite material is not less than 100 MPa and the coefficient of bending strength isotropy is not less than 0.8.
