PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temporary protective covering for a coke oven which, especially when a new coke oven is built adjacent to an existing coke oven, provides an area sufficient to wholly cover the new coke oven and facilitates the repair of a coke guide car. SOLUTION: By forming a cantilever 16 between the upper part of a new coke oven 1 and the lower part of the top roof 14 protrudingly toward the side of an existing coke oven 2, suspending a foldable and encasable side wall part 17 from the cantilever 16, and folding and encasing the side wall part 17 when a coke guide car 5 is repaired, it is possible to simultaneously encase two coke guide cars 5 at an intermediate deck 15 between the new coke oven 1 and the existing coke oven 2 and to provide the top roof 14 with an area broad enough to wholly cover the new coke oven 1. The side wall part 17 is constructed by joining the longer edges of vertically oblong platy materials together in a foldable manner. A roller 18 is formed on the flange part of the cantilever 16 made of an H-section steel, and the side wall part 17 is suspended from the roller 18.
